A resident of Windsor and a longtime volunteer organizer for the ride, Berenson recently purchased a 2002 Honda CBR 954 RR. He saddled up in support of his wife, Kristen, who was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis eight years ago.

Historic Windsor Bike Tour Offered June 5 bike tour
Here's a ten-mile bike tour over mostly flat ground through historic Windsor. Reservations for the tour, limited to 20 participants age 18 and over, must be made by June 4 by calling 860/688-3813. The tour is planned so bicyclists have time to visually absorb architectural details and landscapes as they listen to ancient and recent events that took place at the stops. Tour ends at 1 p.m. COST: $6/adults; $5/seniors and students; $4/Windsor Historical Society members.

Windsor photographers of all ages, we are looking for you!  Sign up to bring in your up-to-ten-minute Power Point presentation for our "Visions of Windsor" photography contest.  Audience members will vote for their favorite presentations and prizes of $150, $100, and $50 will be awarded to the winners.  Open to photographers that live or work in Windsor; and the presentation must feature Windsor people, places, or events.  Narration and musical accompaniment or silence are all acceptable and must be family friendly.  Each submission will be previewed by the Windsor Historical Society staff.  Submit your name, address, phone, email, and a paragraph describing yourself and the focus of your presentation to Christine Ermenc, Windsor Historical Society, 96 Palisado Avenue, Windsor, CT 06095 or CErmenc@WindsorHistoricalSociety.org by JUNE 1, 2010.

Following up on the success of our past two garden tours, the Windsor Historical Society and the Windsor Garden Club are teaming up to open a selection of gardens to the public. This year’s garden tour, “Windsor Garden Getaways” will be held on Saturday, July 10th from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The tour is generally self-guided, and/or guided by the property owners. Windsor Historical Society has been called one of the strongest local historical societies in the State.  Its board meets nine times a year and members become involved in a variety of activities from planning to fundraisers to assistance with public programs and community focus groups.

William Phelps has written a new book, "The Devil's Rooming House: The True Story of America's Deadliest Female Serial Killer," about serial killer Amy Archer-Gilligan of Windsor. Snelgrove House leaves a Gap

We have not been successful very much with maintaining the charm of our town. We recently had a house, that was built in 1840, knocked down for a parking lot. It was the last private residence on the town green and on the list of Historic Properties. Here is what the section used to look like:

Guitar Duo Judy Handler and Mark Levesque at the Windsor Art Center plow
The husband and wife duo Judy Handler and Mark Levesque return to the Windsor Art Center for a second engagement on Thursday, April 1 at 6:30 PM. If you missed their previous performance mark your calendar to make it to this one for an evening of rich, zesty guitar music. Judy and Mark offer up a blend of Brazilian, Latin American, swing, gypsy, classical and folk music to create their sophisticated and expressive arrangements. Audiences respond with great enthusiasm to their extraordinary sound and the uplifting spirit of their music. Response Required by Law: The U.S. Census Past, Present, Future plow
On Tuesday, April 6th, at 7 p.m., Windsor Historical Society iwill host a panel presentation on the evolution of the United States Census and its continuing importance to historical researchers and genealogists, politicians, and everyday citizens. This program is part of the Society’s widely acclaimed “Timely Topics” series which takes issues of contemporary concern and infuses historical perspective.

On March 16th, at 7:00 p.m., get prepared for St. Patrick’s Day and into an Irish mood with a special concert of traditional and contemporary Irish music with fiddler Kate O’Brien and harpist Wendy Kerner Lucas.  The excitement of the fiddle pairs well with the beauty of the harp in the capable hands of O’Brien, violinist with the Greater Bridgeport Symphony and Lucas, principal harpist with the Bridgeport, Norwalk, and Ridgefield Symphonies.  Both artists play all over the country and are part of the group THEMSELVES which promotes Irish culture to future generations and is known for exceptional performances of toe-tapping Irish music and dance.More>


Three Hospitalized After Car Collides With Plow plow
A snow plow and a car collided at the intersection of Pierson Lane and Kennedy Road Wednesday morning.
Three people were taken to the hospital. The extent of their injuries was unclear.
Police were investigating what caused the crash.
