Windsor Wade Fair
On November 7 - 8, 2009, the Windsor Wade Fair take place at the
Hyatt Summerfield Suites in Windsor. This is your chance to enjoy
browsing and buying your favorite Wade figurines and other Wade items
including a good selection of Wade Ireland. Get a show special Wade
piece; a limited edition (LE) Wade made specifically for the 4th
annual show, and you might be lucky enough to win an LE 25 or LE 10
colorway of the show special presented by Happy Wade-ing every hour of
the show!
The Windsor Wade Fair is a four-year tradition here in Windsor,
started in 2006 when the Windsor Chamber of Commerce started a
collectors’ fair for the Wade figurines and other ceramic pieces that
people all over the world collect.
Many vendors from across the US and Canada will be here for fair
weekend to display and sell their extensive, and often specially-
commissioned, Wade ceramic figurines and other goodies. Some of the
vendors are: Happy Wade-ing of Kansas, Jacqui Latham of Connecticut,
Wades In Canada of Ontario, Wades by Peg of Illinois and Wades Norwich
of Connecticut.
On Saturday, there will be a hospitality evening where you can indulge
in snacks and good conversation with other collectors and Wade
vendors. Rumor has it there will be a one-of-a-kind Wade prize donated
by the Wade Collector's Club of England.
Local Windsor businesses are getting into the spirit too, offering
related events and specials over the weekend! Patti’s Treasures will
be offering a rare selection of collectible Wade figurines as well as
her wide range of antiques and collectibles. She always has some
special edible treats for tasting, too. Windsor Historical Society and
Windsor Woman's Club will be hosting a “Romantic Tales and Tea”
luncheon on Saturday at noon. Enjoy delicious, fancy and filling
luncheon sandwiches; sweets, and teas. Silver, china and festive table
settings will add to your pleasure. Then listen to some fascinating
tales from storyteller Steve Carter including a true romantic tale, a
ghost story and a funny tale about the hazards of early travel.
Reservations required.
The Windsor Chamber of Commerce commissions a Show Special Wade piece
from Wade in England each year. The 2007 piece was The Three Bears,
2008 was the Cat and the Fiddle, and this year, the show special is a
new limited edition (LE 100) circus poodle in new colors.
Come browse this year’s collectors’ fair and you’ll fall in love with
these adorable collectables. Enjoy complimentary tea and scones.
